As a child, Isabelle van Keulen was enthralled by Piazzolla's Tango Nuevo. Propelled by her passion, she gathered like-minded musicians and established her own ensemble in 2011. The musical depth; the brilliant technical and expressive performance; the mix of melancholy, intimacy and intensity, so typical of the Tango Nuevo: the Isabelle van Keulen Ensemble never fails to pull the audience in.

In 2011, Isabelle van Keulen followed her heart and established her own ensemble with three highly skilled musicians.

Christian Gerber, bandoneon: one of the world's leading bandoneon player and responsible for the numerous arrangements he made for the Isabelle van Keulen Ensemble. Christian Gerber has won several prizes, including the Deutscher Schallplattenpreis in 2008.

Ulrike Payer, piano: one of the most versatile pianists of our time, known for her upmost sensitive touch. Partly due to the concerts she played with the legendary bandoneon player Alfredo Marcucci, the Argentine tango has been one of her most beloved genres since 1988.

Rüdiger Ludwig, double bass: this charismatic musician is deputy principal double basses of the NDR Radio Philharmonie in Hanover and also Isabelle van Keulen's husband.

A series of successful concerts in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, the Rheingau Musik Festival, the Schleswig Holstein Musik Festival and the Delft Chamber Music Festival, among others, marked the launch of the Isabelle van Keulen Ensemble. Its challenging Tango Nuevo program has proven to be an indispensable piece for international concert stages and festivals.

It is clear that the three well-received CDs and the attractive, versatile programs, including many of their own arrangements, contribute to the success of this four-piece ensemble. Their fourth CD has recently been released in 2021, exactly a century after Astor Piazzolla first opened his eyes.
