From temporary to permanent
The current exhibition The Wall is Yours at the Fries Museum is a living, temporary work of art. Graffiti writers and street art artists, residents and students change the walls every day, but once the exhibition ends, this art will disappear again. To celebrate our special year of collaboration, we are launching the open call: “This Wall is Also Yours”.
What does this competition involve?
We are looking for a design for the wall in the new cloakroom for the years to come. This wall is almost 3 metres high and 14 metres long! Anyone from Friesland can submit a design: established artists, emerging talent and unknown creatives alike. No experience applying artwork to a wall? The organisation will take care of that. The deadline is Saturday 20 June at 12:00 noon.

What can you win?
The winning design will receive €500 and almost eternal fame: your artwork will be displayed prominently on the cloakroom wall, including a nameplate. You will also be the guest of honour at the festive unveiling!

In addition, a fair fee is available for the actual application of the design to the wall. How this works depends on your experience:
- You apply it yourself: Do you have experience with this and would you like to do it yourself? Then you will receive the application fee on top of your prize money.
- The organisation arranges an artist: Are you unable or unwilling to apply it yourself? No problem! The organisation will arrange and pay a professional artist to bring your design to life on the wall. That artist will receive the application fee. You are, of course, very welcome to come and watch your design take shape.

Terms and conditions for participation
Who can enter:
- You live in Friesland
- Everyone can take part!
- You may enter individually or as a group
Technical and content requirements:
- Your design must fit within the specified dimensions of 8 metres long and 2 metres wide, approximately 2⅔ landscape A4 sheets
- A maximum of one submission per person or group
Submitting your design
What should you submit?
- A visual design, such as a sketch, digital design or collage.
- A short explanation: in no more than 200 words, describe your idea, what it means to you or your group, and, optionally, how it connects to De Harmonie and Leeuwarden/Friesland. You may also submit a video of up to 1 minute.
- Your name, or the name of your group, age(s), place of residence and contact details, including email address and phone number.
How do you submit it?
- Complete the form below in full
- Online: include a link from, for example, WeTransfer, FromSmash or YouTube*
- Do you have a drawing, painting or collage? Make a video or photo, as mentioned above, and/or bring it to the De Harmonie box office at the Fries Museum, Zaailand 92 in Leeuwarden, by appointment

Timeline
I have submitted a design, what happens next?
- Our expert jury will assess all designs and select a top 3
- From 26 June to 2 July, the public will choose the winner from this top 3
- The winner will be announced on Friday 3 July
Of course, the artwork will then be unveiled in a festive way, with the winner present! The date has not yet been confirmed, as it depends on the progress of De Harmonie’s renovation project.
