Sasha Witteveen transports the listener from the darkness to the light. Thematically inspired by the words of Martin Luther King Jr.: 'Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can.' For example you can achieve this through a dramatic transition from minor to major. Witteveen makes her double bass speak, about loss and comfort, captivity and freedom, injustice and honesty, sarcasm and humor, drama and love.

At only 19, she is the youngest finalist ever. The jury’s verdict: “What a strong appearance behind the double bass! Her vigor and determination is impressive, she knows exactly what she wants. Her fingers race across the fingerboard without fear, taming her instrument.”
