Thor and his friend Loki set off on an epic adventure. They party with gods, battle giants, and uncover the raw power of nature. But everything changes when the troll king Prymr steals Thor’s magical hammer. To get it back, Thor and Loki must embark on a thrilling journey.
THOR is a spectacular production by Het Balletorkest and ISH Dance Collective. Together, they bring a whirlwind story to life through music, dance, and spoken word. Inspired by ancient tales from the Edda and Norse mythology, the performance is given a modern twist — blending hip-hop dance, urban culture, and classical music into something truly unique.
Thor is no ordinary hero. He’s the son of Odin, king of the gods — but more than anything, he’s a rebel. He drinks with lightning goddesses and knocks down giants. Loki is a fiery trickster, a master of mischief. Yet despite their differences, an unlikely friendship grows between them. When Loki gifts Thor the hammer Mjöllnir, their bond changes forever. But when the hammer is stolen, their true journey begins.
On stage, 43 musicians from Het Balletorkest perform live music composed especially for this production. The dancers of ISH bring the story to life with dynamic, high-energy choreography. The fusion of music and movement makes THOR a one-of-a-kind experience for audiences of all ages.
Het Balletorkest has been the musical partner of Dutch National Ballet and Nederlands Dans Theater since 1965, always seeking the connection between music and movement. ISH Dance Collective, celebrating its 25th anniversary, is known for blending hip-hop, urban sports, and classical art forms. Artistic director Marco Gerris aims to show the power of an open mind through his work.
